I have been obsessed with Jessica Matrasko since I met her at the Pool tradeshow in Vegas last year (two years ago?). I love jewelry that's handmade with unrefined stones, gold, and natural pieces, but sometimes they read a little, I dunno, crunchy. Well, not Matrasko. Far from it. REALLY far from it. Every time I wear one of her items, someone stops me to ask me where I got it. There's a message here... What's even CUTER is that Jessica names each piece after an inspiring person in her life. Hmmm... How about the "Jennifer" prehnite necklace? Just a suggestion.
From top left: "Dara" necklace, $119, features a double terminated quartz point that's hand painted with 24K gold on a gold fill chain. "Heather" shark's tooth necklace, $84, hand painted with 24K gold, with crystal detail on a gold fill chain. "Jeanette" ring, $105, features an amethyst stalactite slice that is hand painted with 24K gold on a gold plated filagree base. "Elaine" earrings, $79, are carved bone feathers and hand wire-wrapped with gold and moonstones on a gold fill chain. Firstly, I just got married. Yay! And I'm totally and completely obsessed with all things J. Crew and Madewell right now (and not just because my BFF is working in graphic design at Madewell). The pieces are unique, vibrant, preppy with edge, unexpectedly urbane, and unsurprisingly global. I'm carrying that backpack EVERYWHERE.
Cursive Knots Scarf $55 by Madewell, Knotted Liberty-print cotton belt $68 by J. Crew, Two-tone trilby hat $42 by Madewell, Cece printed silk ballerina flats $140 by J. Crew, Ancient river bracelet $32 by Madewell, Piped glitter belt $48 by J. Crew, Silk Ikat invitation clutch $88 by J. Crew, Small Yuketen Triangle Backpack $243 by Madewell.
The luxe, unique handbags from the latest collection by Reed Krakoff seemed destined for smashing success before we could even get our hands on them. It's tough for designers to express an individual voice without being rejected by those of us who have come to covet our "It Bags" by Miu Miu, Proenza Schouler, Balenciaga, et. al. RK's scuba bright color palette is a stunning contrast to the formality inherent in each bag's construction and design. A little bit 70's, a little bit James Bond, a little bit Icon! Carolina Bucci's latest collection is full of imagination and utterly original - a tough task in fashion today. Scale new fashion heights! Proenza Schouler's latest jewelry offerings remind us of boat ties, lanyards, and rock-climbing ropes. We love the school-color inspired hues, nautical undertones, and climbing, utilitarian premise of the collection. The bracelets are surprisingly affordable.
